User Operations Overview

Every frontline workflow in SmrtHub flows through HubWindow (the SmrtHub desktop shell) and its companion capture lanes. This section documents how operators launch captures, monitor health, and hand results to their SmrtSpaces or Support. Treat it as the day-to-day playbook for the current build while HubWindow finishes its refactor.

How to navigate this section

Guide When to read it
HubWindow Operations Understand the primary UI (tray, jump list, shared state, SmrtSave) and learn what’s changing during the refactor.
SmrtHub Support Operations Support Bundles, retention/legal hold evidence, and operator/admin responsibilities.

What “User Operations” means in SmrtHub

  • HubWindow is the hub – Whether collapsed to the tray or docked, HubWindow orchestrates captures, shared state, and SmrtSave. The rest of the guides assume HubWindow is running under SmrtHubSupervisor.
  • SmrtSpaces everywhere – Captures honor the active SmrtSpace for SmrtSave/Quick Save. Keep spaces tidy so Quick Save can follow naming templates without extra prompts.
  • Confidence & feedback are consistent – OCR jobs normalize confidence (0–100) and tint controls red→amber→green across HubWindow, toasts, and the tray. Scrape-only jobs skip the score but still raise toasts.
  • Support-ready by design – The tray exposes Support Bundles plus retention evidence so operators can package logs/configs before escalating. ProgramData templates and Storage Guard signatures keep bundles admissible.
  • Mid-refactor transparency – HubWindow workflows are actively evolving. Each guide calls out “In progress” behaviors so you can brief users on what exists now vs what’s landing soon.

Suggested onboarding path

  1. Start with HubWindow – Learn how the shell exposes captures, SmrtSpaces, and diagnostics.
  2. Pick the capture lane that fits – Use the capture tools that match the job (clipboard capture, snips, document extraction, and other installed lanes).
  3. Practice SmrtSave flows – Toggle Quick Save vs dialog to see how SmrtSpaces dictate destinations.
  4. Rehearse Support Bundles – Use the tray instructions so on-call staff can escalate issues with confidence.

Keep this section bookmarked during the HubWindow refactor; we will update the overview and individual runbooks as new surfaces (Settings, SmrtSpace dashboards) go live.
